Bob Wilson - Class Of 1968

 

Robert Lynn Wilson, Bob, "Baby Cakes", was born in San Angelo, Texas on June 2, 1945. He graduated from W.W. Samuell High School in Dallas in 1963 and attended Stephen F. Austin University graduating in 1968 with a degree in Forestry. Following graduation, Bob enlisted in the United States Air Force and completed Office Candidate School and pilot training prior to serving in Viet Nam and Korea receiving numerous commendations and decorations for valor and promotions in rank.
Bob retired from the Air Force after 21 years of service with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Following stints as a consultant to Lockheed Martin and Loral Corporation, Bob retired a second time to the natural beauty of Rock Falls Lake in Mineola where he enjoyed fishing, golf, and numerous trips to Alaska for even more fishing!
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Waymon and Bessie Rae Wilson. He is survived by his brother, Douglas, of Spring; sister, Beth Shockey of Mineola; son, Daniel, of Katy; daughter, Leslie, of Houston; granddaughter, Evangeline; and numerous family members and dear friends.

Being at peace, Bob passed from this life into God’s eternal kingdom on December 5, 2019.


Interment is scheduled for 10:45AM, Thursday December 12 at Houston National Cemetery, Houston, Texas.

 
A Celebration of Bob Wilson’s Life will be held for family and friends at Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola, Texas on Saturday December 14 at 11AM with refreshments and fellowship to follow.
